Patreon Relaunch/Used Book Club!

Hello, dear readers! We have some news!

You might recall we have a Patreon. It’s been roughly a year since we launched it, and we had some new ideas, so we are now re-launching it! What are these cool new ideas, you ask? WELL.

We’re starting a quarterly used book club! Four times a year, we’ll send you a used copy of a book Ariel or Matthew loves. There will even be a dedicated spot to discuss it over here on Patreon. Just like a book club!

community thumbs up

The way Patreon works is that individual donors (potentially you) receive extra stuff from us (like the used book club membership, access to exclusive monthly posts), and if the net sum of those donations hits a certain goal, then everyone gets a little something! Because of our Patreon, we can afford to make the website look a little nicer! If it does even better, we can afford to start doing our recaps for, say, The Bachelor. (Seriously, this is a thing we want to do if we can get compensated for the time it’ll take to do that.) Or a PODCAST?

Anyway, read on for information about the new Patron tiers and stretch goals. If you’re already a Patron, your membership is unchanged. But you can totally switch to one of these if you so desire. Take a look!

"Happy dance"

  • $1 a month is a good, simple way to support us, especially if you use ad blockers. We’ll throw in free copies of our eBooks for you, while we’re at it.
  • $3/month: Access to monthly exclusive posts on Patreon! We have lots of silly and serious questions about the books we read, but we don’t have the time (or space) to get into them. Sometimes we even gossip about books we want to read next, if you want to be really in the know. (Plus the eBooks)
  • $5/month: You get a spot in the rotating panel of featured patrons at the top of our sidebar, linking to your own work. Think about it. One to two thousand people a day will go to BBGT, see “Today’s post brought to you by [YOUR NAME]”, and think “oh!” and/or “ah!”. And it’ll link to your blog/portfolio/YouTube/favorite funny cat video/whatever you want. (Plus the exclusive posts and the eBooks)
  • $8/month: Join our quarterly used book club! Four times a year, we’ll send you a used copy of a book Ariel or Matthew loves. There will even be a dedicated spot to discuss it over here on Patreon, just like a book club! (Plus the exclusive posts and the eBooks, NOT the featured patron panel; extra fees may apply to shipping outside the US)
  • $10/month: Join our quarterly used book club! And at this tier, you can receive either a spot in the featured patron panel OR one of our mugs. (Plus the exclusive posts and the eBooks; mug will be sent after a payment is received; extra fees may apply to shipping outside the US)
  • $12/month: Get everything! Access to the exclusive posts, membership in our quarterly used book club, a spot in the featured patron panel, free copies of our eBooks, and a mug of your choice. (Mug will be sent after a payment is received; extra fees may apply to shipping outside the US)

And, as always, Bad Books, Good Times is free. That’s never going to change. But if you have interest and means to donate and if we’ve put many a smile on your face and you want to say thanks? This is a way for us to say thanks. For you saying thanks. We’re all just so thankful over here. You’re the best readers!

Please take a look! Let us know if you have any questions!

I’ve been wanting to donate to you guys since you first started the Patreon. I first found this blog (my freshman year of college so around 3 1/2 or 4 years ago) and I’ve been in love since. But alas I’m still a broke college student. Once I get a real job you guys are definitely getting a donation.
(And yes please do something with the bachelor. I would love it)

We’re barely past broke college students ourselves – we totally understand! It’s always great just to hear that people like what we do 🙂
