About the Blog

Do you like making fun of terrible books but don’t want to take the time to read them? You’re in the right place.

Bad Books, Good Times is a blog run by two former English majors who love to hate well-known bad books. We write chapter-by-chapter summaries full of mockery and criticism so you don’t have to actually read these books yourself. It’s like SparkNotes, but for smartasses.

We update on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Ariel and Matthew recap one book on Monday and Wednesday, then alternate on a different book on Fridays.

If you so desire, you can support us on Patreon or buy us a cup of coffee on Ko-Fi. We also have our summaries available as eBooks and have mugs and shirts and stuff. We’re currently working on a podcast, because it is 2018.

About the Authors

Bad Books, Good Times is run by two former English majors who went to college together. They met at a summer program for creative writing while in high school because they were pretty cool kids.

Here is a little more about them.

Ariel

Ariel studied English and Creative Writing during her undergrad years, but then she got a Masters in Information Systems and Technology, as you do. She now lives in London with her husband working with data by day and bad books by night.

Aside from reading bad books, she mostly watches television and develops deep attachments to fictional characters. She loves burritos, wine, and video games.

Matthew

Matthew studied English and Biology in college, was an arts and entertainment intern at NPR, and now does editorial work at a medical communications agency in New York. He has previously written about art and culture for NPR and Kill Screen, and he curates playlists for trash garbage.

He reads too many books at the same time, isn’t sure why he owns four ukuleles, and his friends wish he would stop live-tweeting The Bachelor.
