SUPER EMERGENCY VALENTINE’S DAY BULLETIN!!!!

You guys. Everyone. Look.

DO YOU SEE THE GINORMOUS “SLYVIA DAY” TEXT???? One With You. It’s here.

I know Matthew mentioned we’re halfway through our current books and that maybe we’ll do another House of Night right away or maybe Jamie McGuires sci-fi romance. These are delightful options, but I don’t want to wait months to do the latest Crossfire. I can’t. I won’t. Well, unless all of you guys give like no fucks. But given the journey we’ve been on so far with this series, I can’t imagine none of you will care.

Matthew like really doesn’t want to, though, which I can’t fault him for. So we are thinking of maybe having him do another book. So either we all have to join together and desperately plea with Matthew to do this book with me, or find him a book he’s really excited to tackle on his own (preferably one I won’t get jealous that he’s writing about without me.)

If I ever write a book like Hilary Clinton’s Hard Choices, this would be one of the hardest choices. Please share your thoughts. This is a Valentine’s Day emergency.

I give no fucks. Maybe doing several chapters a post would be a good compromise.

I had completely forgotten about this series. You would need to do a recap before starting…..i have no memory of how the last book played out.

I vote that Matt reads something else while you do One with You.

By the way, how’d that title ever get a pass but not “Deeper in You”? They both sound, y’know, like references to coitus. Or is this one suddenly okay because they finally put a ring on it, as Beyoncé put it?

Also, is it possible to keep reading HoN alongside Sylvia Day’s “masterpiece”? They’re both awful books, it’s just HoN is bad in a hilariously “nope nope don’t care everything goes lol” way. Whereas Crossfire comes off to me as one of those books that demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of why intimate humyn relationships are so fascinating. (Seriously, good sex and chemistry aren’t the only things that make a relationship special, but reading these romance novels you’d think they’re the only important requirements.)

Yeah, I think having two books in the mix would be fun and keep things spicy (like Eva, coincidentally!)

I think “Deeper in You” is an A+ title for a book in this series. Well done.

I always want to be doing House of Night, but I think the plan would be to do maybe do the next Left Behind with this book (and possibly another if Matthew goes that route), but then get back to House of Night after. Although, the combo of House of Night/Crossfire is pretty great.

It’s only out for pre-order right now, though.
On amazon it says it comes out April 5th

Crossfire is so ridiculous, I want more!

Saying that, I don’t want to make Matthew suffer any more than he does with some of these books. He should do another series once thats all going

Hey, he loves the suffering. But I agree about him being able to read something else at the same time. The one thing is, if we read it together, we finish it faster is the main dilemma for me.

I like the “you do one, Matthew do the other” option.

SIDE NOTE: I’m not the only person vaguely pissed and completely underwhelmed by the announcement that the script of a play written by somebody who is NOT named J.K. Rowling is coming out. Right?

This just smacks of the sort of the thing that they’d put next to “Cash grab” in the dictionary. What’s said is that I’ll probably get it, though I’ll be in no rush.

On the flip side, I am REALLY, really psyched about “Fantastic Beasts”, but mostly because Rowling wrote the screenplay. So hey.

I can’t help but be excited about a new Harry Potter book, but I am also terrified it’s not going to be as good as anticipated. I mean, what if it’s like How I Met Your Mother and the last part just ruins everything for me? I might look at the ruins of my childhood on July 31, and I am not being overly dramatic.
As for the books, I love the idea of each of you doing one. But would Matthew maybe do something else, not a romance? Not that I don’t love everything you write, but it’s refreshing to read something else and I am living for Left behind right now. Maybe you could do a criminal novel or something similar? Maybe a Dan Brown book (thought that seems almost too easy)? Anyways, psyched for One with you! More uncomfortable sex scenes ahoy!

Well, what’s making me skeptical is 1) Rowling didn’t write it, and 2) It’s not a book, but a script.

If it were another, real live book, I’d be THRILLED.

But she wrote the original story the play is based on and has been heavily involved in the script/the play itself, no?

            • 22aer22 Reply

I think it could be good given how involved she’s been and the fact the she wrote the story the play is based off of, but I completely see where you’re coming from. It could definitely be a cash-grab where she’s not too concerned with the actual product, but I really hope it’s not!

I am mildly ashamed to report that a shit-ton of men came in to the bookstore this weekend looking for “books that are like that ‘Fifty Grey Whatevers,'” and I told every single one of them that they should buy the Crossfire series. We sold out of every copy of every book, including sixty dollar box sets.
I don’t know what to do with my life anymore. I’m perpetuating this cycle of yucky smut. I feel unclean.

Maybe 10???? They were all in for Valentine’s Day, trying to buy stuff for their Girlfriends/wives. I was like “so you’re buying erotica for your girlfriend…. so you don’t need you anymore???”

I just think that’s such a strange gift to get somebody. Is it romantic? Is bad porn romantic now?
